Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat led the tree plantation drive at Keranwan and Mothorowala
Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the Rispana river rejuvenation here today.
Thousands of children, youth, women and old participated in the campaign with enthusiasm. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists along with people from every religion and community took part in the campaign. A total of
- 5 lakh saplings will be planted during the campaign. The campaign started from Keranwan village. Later, the Chief Minister participated in tree plantation drive at Mothorowala. A ‘Sadbhavna Vatika’ is being developed on the banks of Rispana river at Mothorowala.
In this campaign is being conducted by all the educational institutions, voluntary organizations, different organizations, departments through public participation. Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat thanked everyone for cooperation in the campaign to rejuvenate Rispana river to its old glory of Rishiparna. He said that despite rainy season, children, youth women and old are enthusiastically participating in the campaign and expressed his confidence that the campaign to rejuvenate rivers will be successful.
Chief Minister said that he had taken a small resolve to try to rejuvenate Rispana river but he was happy to find that common people have pitched in to save rivers like Bhagirathi who had toiled to bring Ganga river on this earth. He said that to save Rispana, children, youth, women and old people from Dehradun and even from outside Dehradun are keen. “ Thousands of Bhagiraths today gathered on the land of river Ganga. Through collective efforts we would be able to rejuvenate Rispana and Kosi rivers and write the name of Uttarakhand in golden letters,” Chief Minister said.
Chief Minister said that if the people of Britain through collective efforts can clean Thames river why cannot people of Uttarakhand change the face of Rispana river. He expressed confidence that with public cooperation,
Public energy and with pious spirit, we will be able to rejuvenate Rispana and Kosi rivers and set a model example like the Britishers did in the world. He further said that we cannot stop today as it will be our responsibility to look after the safety of the plants which are planted during the campaign today. He hoped that water flow in the river will improve with plantations. In the next phase, cleanliness drive on the banks of river will be carried out but we have to keep the pious spirit of public cooperation alive. He said that with rejuvenation of river, a civilization is kept alive, culture is rejuvenated and heritage gets a new life. Chief Minister praised the District Magistrate and administrative officers.
District Magistrate S.A. Murugasan informed that during the ‘Mission Rispana to Rishiparna’ on July 22 at Keranwan village and surrounding 39 blocks, eighteen varieties of saplings including Amaltas, Khadik, Kanji, Kanju, Shisham, Katchnar, Bans, Belpatra, Sandan, Anwla, Harad, Baheda, Tejpat, Mehal,Tekoma and Pilan were planted. Earlier, through nominated nodal officers, the Government Nursury,Circuit house distributed saplings of Kathal, Mango, Guava, Organe, Lime, Litchi, Kinnu Barahmasi and other fruit trees to the school children of different government and non-government schools. In this campaign, Dehradun Municipal Corporation, Forest, Eco-Task Force, Civil Defence, Army, ITBP, PWD, Irrigation, Jal Sansthan, Information department, Food and Supplies, Panchayati Raj, Rural development department, Peyjal and other government departments played an important role. Different central government institutions stationed in Dehradun, non-government organizations and media are also playing an important role in the campaign.
