Chief Secretary expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of the Prime Minister Awas Yojana

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh reviewed the Prime Minister Awas Yojana-2022 for providing houses to everyone. Presiding over the State Level Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee in the secretariat, Chief Secretary issued instructed to provide benefit to the beneficiaries soon. He said that by year 2022, every homeless person in the state has to be provided a house.

Chief Secretary expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of the Prime Minister Awas Yojana so far. He said there is demand of 104971 houses in the state. So far, 16125 houses are being constructed. He instructed that the Housing Department should further strengthen MIS. Monitoring arrangements be made at every level. Orientation training of officials and staff of city bodies should be conducted.

In the meeting, Secretary Housing R.K.Sudhanshu said that 14898 houses have to be constructed under beneficiary based construction scheme. Those having 30 square meters of land will be given a subsidy of Rs 2 lakh for building houses. So far, 11860 people have been benefited.

Under the participation, affordable accommodation (Affordable Housing in Partnership), 38472 houses have to be constructed. Under this, subsidy of Rs 2.5 lakh will be given for constructing house on 30 square meters, to those who have no land and are living in rented house. In this, benefit has been given to 2864 people. Under the (Credit Link Subsidy Scheme), 14248 affordable houses have to be constructed by grants linked to the loan. In this, on subsidized interest rates, Banks will give loans up to Rs 6 lakhs to Rs 12 lakhs for constructing houses on 30 square meters to 150 square meters. 1401 people have been given benefit in this scheme.

Under the BLC component, Committee has approved the construction of 885 houses request received from 14 Municipal Bodies. These houses will be constructed in Kapkot, Doiwala, Mangalore, Kotdwar, Badkot, Naogaon, Chinyalisaur, Pokhri, Haldwani, Nanakmatta, Bajpur, Barinag, Champawat and Kicha. Committee has approved the MDDA to make affordable houses numbering 1108 in Dholas and Uttar housing scheme.

Additional Secretary Bhopal Singh Manral, Sunilshree Panthari, VC MDDA Ashish Shrivastava, VC HDA Nitin Bhadauriya, Secretary Banshidhar Tiwari and other officers were present in the meeting.
