ECI to hold special meeting to review Delhi’s poll preparedness

New Delhi: Election Commission of India has decided to convene a special meeting on 31st January 2020 at 4pm with the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi along with District Electoral Officers, District Commissioners of Police, Nodal officers and the Chief Executives of Local Bodies to have another comprehensive review for the poll preparedness of ensuing Delhi Elections and to discuss all important aspects for conduct of free and fair Elections.

This review meeting will be followed by another meeting at 530pm with Chief Secretary, NCT Delhi, Commissioner Police, Home Secretary, Finance Secretary, Special Commissioners of Police and CEO Delhi to review various important issues related to conduct of peaceful, free, fair and smooth elections.

It may be recalled that a comprehensive review meeting was conducted by the Commission on 26th December 2019 to assess the poll preparedness with all concerned officials including CS, CoP, CEO, DEOs, DCPs, Chief Executives of Local Bodies and all other concerned senior government officers.

Prior to this meeting, Sr. Deputy Election Commissioner, Sh. Sandeep Saxena, in-charge of Delhi at ECI, had conducted two poll preparedness meetings, one on 4th November 2019 and second on 10th December 2019, with all Election related officials. Secretary General, Sh. Umesh Sinha along with DG (Communications) Sh.Dhirendra Ojha  had also conducted a separate meeting on some focused issues related to Elections. Again on 28th January, 2020 a full scale meeting of Chief Electoral Officer, District Electoral Officers, DCPs, Chief Executives of Local Bodies was conducted by Sr.DEC Sh. Saxena to assess the preparedness.
