Lucknow’s Poulomi Pavini Shukla featured in Femina’s “Fab 40” list!

Poulomi Pavini Shukla, a lawyer and activist from Lucknow, has been featured in Femina’s “Fab 40” list of 2021, for her outstanding contribution towards the cause of orphan children in India. Femina, India’s leading women’s magazine, in its September issue features the “Fab 40” women who have raised their voices, fought battles, supported communities, and inspired millions. The selection of the Fab 40 aims to motivate women to hold their heads high as they march ahead and pave the way for an equal world.

            Through her PIL in the Supreme Court of India, her book “Weakest on Earth- Orphans of India” about the plight of orphan children and her continuous advocacy for getting equal rights and opportunities for orphans in India, Poulomi has managed to get policy changes in various States, including reservation for orphan children, increased budgetary allocation etc.

            Apart from Poulomi, Femina’s “Fab 40” list includes only one other person from Uttar Pradesh, film actress Priyanka Chopra. The list, comprising of 40 famous and inspiring women, includes notable persons like Rani Rampal and Mirabai Chanu of the Tokyo Olympics fame, the four women judges recently elevated to the Supreme Court, women scientists of ISRO’s Mangalyaan mission, Meenakshi Lekhi, Mahua Moitra, P. V. Sindhu, Barkha Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Masaba Gupta, Bhumi Pednekar, Nita Ambani, Koneru Humpy among others.

            Poulomi Pavini’s dedicated work for orphan children in India is widely recognised. Recently, the Forbes magazine had honoured her by including her name in their “30 Under 30” list, which features 30 persons under the age of 30, for their outstanding achievements.
