After Wheat, UP Govt Targets Record Paddy Procurement

Lucknow: After achieving the target of 66 lakh MT paddy purchase in the last Kharif season successfully, the Uttar Pradesh government is all set to create a new record this season. The state has set a target to purchase 70 lakh MT of paddy in the current Kharif marketing season (October 2021-March 2022).

            The market arrival of paddy is expected to start within 10 days. Striving in the interest of farmers’, the government is going to set up at least 4,000 centers in all the 75 districts of the State.

            Out of these, 1,100 centers will be of the marketing division of food and civil supplies department, 1,500 of UP Cooperative Federation (PCF), 600 of UP Cooperative Union Ltd (PCU), 200 of UP State Krishi Utpadan Mandi Parishad, 300 of UP Consumer Cooperative Union (UPSS) and 300 of the Food Corporation of India.

            The center will be geo-tagged with the help of the Remote Sensing Application Centre (RSAC).

            This season the paddy will be purchased at an increased MSP which has been fixed- Rs 1,940 per quintal for common paddy and Rs 1,960 per quintal of Grade A paddy.

            On the lines of wheat purchase, the procurement will be done through the PFMS portal and payment will be made to farmers within 72 hours.

            The state farmers are required to get themselves registered on the portal of the Food and Civil supplies department: www.fcs.up.gov.in. Paddy will be procured through biometric authentication of farmers through electronic point of purchase (e-pop) machines.

            To facilitate farmers, purchase centers will remain open on all working days, except on Sundays and gazetted holidays.

            Procurement will be done between October 1 and January 31, 2022, in Bareilly, Moradabad, Meerut, Saharanpur, Agra, Aligarh, and Jhansi divisions, and Hardoi and Lakhimpur in the Lucknow division.

            In case of Lucknow (Lucknow, Sitapur, Rae Bareli, Unnao), Chitrakoot, Kanpur, Ayodhya, Devipatan, Basti, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Varanasi, Mirzapur and Prayagraj divisions, procurement will be done from November 1 to February 28, 2022.
