According to market demand, get handicraft products prepared: Chief Minister

Dehradun: Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat has said that according to the market demand, handicraft products should be prepared. He said that if required, services of suitable designers should be availed. He said that it should be ensured that benefit must reach actual craftsman. Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat was presiding over the 8th meeting of governing body of Handloom & Handicraft Development Council. He said that attention should be given on the availability of raw material, particularly Ringal and Bamboo, used in handicrafts. The use of Bhimal fibre can also be worked out.

In the meeting, it was informed that under the union government Integrated Handicraft Development and Promotion Scheme, 15 general Suwidha centres have been set up. In the selected development blocks, 7700 tool kits have been distributed among craftsman. He said that technical training programmes of woollen crafts in Nakuri in Uttarkashi, Munsiyari in Pithoragarh and Dharchula and woodcraft in Kashipur and Srinagar, have been completed. For providing the market to the craftsman of the state, along with various fair exhibitions, the Council has been registered on Government E-Market (GeM) portal. With the support of NABARD, Gramin Haat are being developed in Dehradun, Kashipur, Chamoli and Pithoragarh. In the meeting, Principal Secretary Manisha Panwar, SIIDCUL MD Sowjanya, Director Industries Sudhir Chandra Nautiyal  and other officers were present.
