Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat holds meeting with office bearers of student unions on reforms in higher education

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Cooperative, Higher Education, Milk Development and Protocol (independent charge) Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat held a meeting with the office bearers of the students unions on the issue of reforms in higher education at Vidhan Sabha conference hall on Monday. Suggestions were given on the contemporary issues of admissions, examinations and student union elections during the meeting.

The office bearers assured that every kind of support will be given for creative works. It was stated in the meeting that an Umbrella Act will be brought to check arbitrariness of private universities. A conference of student unions will be organized in the coming days in which final draft will be prepared for amendment in Lyngdoh commission recommendations. Discussion was also held to hold students union elections in Garhwal University, Kumoan university and private universities on three different dates.

The issues of book charity campaign (“Pustak Daan Abhiyan”) and fee hike were also discussed. A suggestion was mooted to give the right to increase fee to principals. It was informed that meeting with the office bearers of student union will be held from time to time to discuss reforms in higher education.
