Environment protection a joint responsibility of everyone: CM Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat has asked the people of the state for their active support for environment protection on the occasion of World Environment Day ( June 5). In his message on World Environment day, Chief Minister said that the state government is fully committed for polythene free Uttarakhand and this could be possible only with the support of the common people. It is to be mentioned that the theme of World Environment Day 2018 is “ Beat plastic Pollution “.  India is host of World Environment day this year.

Chief Minister said that people of Uttarakhand have played an important role in environment protection. The state government is fully committed to the preservation of rich bio –diversity. Uttarakhand state is the flag bearer of environment protection due to its’ forest wealth and rivers. He said that public support is necessary for environment protection.

Besides government efforts, Chief Minister appealed to the general masses, public representatives and voluntary organizations to make people aware about environment protection and make cent per cent efforts for its preservation. He said that along with plantation of trees, there is need to make efforts to keep the rivers and water resources clean. The Chief Minister said efforts are being started to rejuvenate Rispana river (Rishiparna) in Dehradun and Kosi river in Almora. Special efforts are being done for water conservation and focus is on rain water harvesting.
