Projects worth Rs. 6.26 crore approved under National Livestock Mission

Gairsain: Under the National Livestock Mission, the state level committee has approved an amount of Rs. 6.26 crores. Approval for the same was given by Uttarakhand Chief Secretary  Utpal Kumar Singh, in a meeting held in his chamber located in Vidhan Sabha in Bharadisain (Gairsain). Later, in the evening, after the end of assembly session on Friday, the Chief Secretary did E.F.C of department of tourism. He also held a meeting of department of Animal Husbandry, in which he approved various projects of National Livestock Mission for the year 2018-19.

The Chief Secretary said that a target has been given to double the income of farmers by the year 2022. Animal Husbandry can be an important component to achieve that target. Instructions were given to provide maximum benefits to farm animal breeders through the mission. He instructed that maximum number of  farm animals should be insured. Secretary for Animal Husbandry R. Meenakshi Sundaram said that a proposal of Rs. 3.88 crore has been made for animal insurance. An arrangement of Rs. 2 crore has been made for innovative poultry project. Apart from this, cattle feed will be grown on public and private land for which arrangement of Rs. 37.20 lakh has been made. A target for insurance of 12,920 animals has been fixed for which Rs. 3.88 crore have been allocated. This goal/target will be further enhanced. Poultry will be promoted in 8 blocks of Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Tehri and Rudraprayag districts for Rs.20 crore. For livestock development, 20 acres land in Gauchar, 26 acres land in the state farm, and individual one acre land has been identified.
