The youth will not have to migrate for employment now: CM Yogi

In recognition of the conducive policy of the UP government with regards to the food processing industry, Britannia, the confectionary major, is setting up a Rs 340 crores plant in the Barabanki district of the State. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laid the foundation stone of the Britannia Industries plant on Wednesday.

“Barabanki will reach new heights of development after the establishment of the Britannia Company’s plant. The youth here will not have to migrate for employment,” said the CM.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM stated that for the industry, everything from sugar to flour will be supplied by local farmers which is available in abundance in the state. The manpower will be also local and the local youths will also get employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister said that 1000 youths of Barabanki would get jobs in their city by the establishment of the plant. For this, the government will also conduct a special program of skill development. The project will favorably impact the farmers in the State. With this, the youth and farmers of Barabanki will be able to become self-reliant.

The company has registered about 30.34 acres of land in Barabanki and all pre-construction approvals have been obtained. The estimated capacity of the unit is 1, 25,000 tons per year. The plant will manufacture a variety of confectionery products, including bread, biscuits, etc.

It is noteworthy that Uttar Pradesh is one of the largest States for Britannia in terms of sales. Founded in the year 1892 and headquartered in Kolkata, Britannia industries is one of India’s oldest existing companies. With a turnover of about Rs 11,400 Crores per annum and the market cap of Rs 85,000 Crore, the Company primarily operates in various business segments viz. Bakery, Dairy, and Adjacency. BIL is the market leader in bakery products and the second-largest player in cheese. The Company has about 90 manufacturing units (own & outsourced) across the country and its products reaches to about 18 Crore households.
